Island Accommodations
While in Thailand, we stayed at a couple of places. My most favorite was the The Sanctuary. It's a wonderful little place in a secluded cove (no cars or motorbikes - you have to take a boat there) on the island of Koh Pha Ngan. They have a variety of bungalows and houses built into the hill behind the main restaurant area. For part of our stay, we were in the Garden House. It was a cozy little place with a great porch for laying in a hammock and watching butterflies. I made a little video (with my camera) of it. Check it out:
Fallin' off
At our BBQ this weekend a track came on from Buck 65's "Talkin Honkey Blues" album... Someone (I forget who) hadn't heard him before. They really liked it. I put the whole album on and it was a big hit.
Today Eugene sent me a link where you can listen to tracks from his new album "Secret House Against the World". I couldn't make it to the end of any of the tracks I listened to. They were all a bunch of sing songy overproduced crap.
It's a shame.
Buck's been a big favorite of mine since Vertex (1998). This is going to be the first album of his I won't hear right away... If ever.
Pardon me
My trip to Thailand was amazing - on so many different levels. It's hard to try to sum up those 3 or so weeks. And I don't really want to. At least not yet. And not for awhile. It sort of seems like a waste of something to try and re-live it right now. ...Like a waste of the present.
Which is pretty damn good. Summer is here. 've been to a few BBQ's since getting back. Both here and abroad. I've been camping. And I've spent many a long afternoon in Delores Park. I even went back to Google.
Lane was pet sitting for Biz and Livy in Palo Alto. I went up to visit her and we swung by the old Goog for lunch. It was nice to see some folks again... but really, honestly, fuck that place. Three hundred dollar a share stock price be damned. Leaving is one of the best decisions I've made in my short life. That much I'm sure of.
What to do next, still not so much. Which is fine by me. Next will always be there, but now has a bad habit of fleeting.
